Wednesday – Around 12:00 pm on March 3rd, a 911 call was made by a driver on Cloudious Highway reporting a male standing on the bridge between Ashes Street and Kelly Avenue near the Car Dealership yelling he is going to jump.

Cloud County 911 Center made an “all call” to all agencies in the area in an effort to save the suicidal man. Park Ranger Arabella Robinson with Durake National Park was the first on scene. Ranger Robinson describes the situation as tense and it was only a matter of time before something devastating happened.

Ranger Robinson blocked off the Eastbound lanes of Cloudious Highway in order to protect the scene and then spoke to the man. Seconds later two Sheriff’s Department Deputies showed up and assisted Ranger Robinson in the mission of saving the suicidal man.

With their combined team effort and negotiation skills, they were able to talk the man down and take him into custody. The Cloud County Fire Department was then requested to the scene to do a check-up on the individual and he was soon transported to Duke Raleigh Hospital.
